Evaluation Process
Psychological evaluations are individualized, but the overall process generally follows these six steps. My goal is to make the experience comfortable, collaborative, and informative while developing a thorough understanding of your child.
Step 1
Initial Consultation
Every evaluation begins with a conversation. We’ll discuss your concerns, review your child’s history and strengths, and determine whether an evaluation is appropriate and what questions it should answer.
Step 2
Background & Records
Relevant records are reviewed before testing to better understand your child’s developmental, educational, and medical history. This information helps guide the evaluation and ensure testing is tailored to your child’s individual needs.
Step 3
Evaluation Session
Testing is individualized based on the referral questions and your child’s unique profile. Sessions are designed to be engaging and age-appropriate while providing a thorough understanding of how your child learns, thinks, and functions.
Step 4
Scoring & Interpretation
Assessment results are carefully analyzed alongside interviews, observations, rating scales, and background information. The goal is to understand patterns, explain why challenges are occurring, and identify the strengths that can support future success.
Step 5
Feedback Session
Once the evaluation is complete, we’ll meet to review the findings together. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss recommendations, and leave with a clear understanding of the results and next steps.
Step 6
Comprehensive Report
You’ll receive a detailed written report that summarizes the evaluation findings and provides practical, individualized recommendations. The report is designed to support informed decision-making at home, in school, and when coordinating care with other professionals.
